At Navy Basic Training, would Henry David Thoreau be considered religious text?

I'm leaving for Navy Basic Training in January, and was told I wouldn't be allowed to bring any books except religious texts. I'm a Transcendentalist and one of the major innovators of Transcendentalism is Henry David Thoreau. So my question is, would I be allowed to keep my small copy of Walden while I'm at Basic Training?
